LiveWeb: The Ultimate PowerPoint Add-in for Web Pages

How to Download and Use LiveWeb for PowerPoint

Have you ever wanted to show a live web page in your PowerPoint presentation? Maybe you want to demonstrate a product, a service, a blog, or a news article. Or maybe you want to display real-time data, such as weather, stock prices, or sports scores. Whatever your reason, inserting a live web page in PowerPoint can make your presentation more dynamic, interactive, and engaging.

But how can you do that? PowerPoint does not have a built-in feature to insert web pages. You could take a screenshot of the web page, but that would be static and outdated. You could switch to your browser during the presentation, but that would be distracting and unprofessional.

Fortunately, there is a solution: LiveWeb. LiveWeb is a free add-in for PowerPoint that lets you insert and view live web pages on your slides. You can even refresh the web pages in real-time during the slide show. In this article, we will show you how to download and use LiveWeb for PowerPoint in a few simple steps.

What is LiveWeb?

LiveWeb is a PowerPoint add-in that was created by Shyam Pillai, a Microsoft MVP (Most Valuable Professional) for PowerPoint. An add-in is a small program that adds new features or functions to an existing application. LiveWeb adds a new feature to PowerPoint: the ability to insert and view live web pages on your slides.

LiveWeb works with all versions of PowerPoint from 2000 to 2021, and with all versions of Windows from XP to 10. It is compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. It is also free to download and use for personal or commercial purposes.

Why use LiveWeb?

LiveWeb can enhance your PowerPoint presentations in many ways. Here are some of the benefits of using LiveWeb:

  • You can show the latest information from the internet without leaving your presentation.

  • You can make your presentation more interactive by allowing your audience to browse or search the web page on your slide.

  • You can save time and effort by avoiding screenshots or switching between applications.

  • You can impress your audience with your creativity and professionalism.

How to Download LiveWeb

The first step to use LiveWeb is to download it from its official website (link below). Here are the steps to follow:

Choose the right version

There are two versions of LiveWeb available for download: one for PowerPoint 2000/2002/2003, and one for PowerPoint 2007/2010/2013/2016/2019/2021. Make sure you choose the right version for your version of PowerPoint. If you are not sure which version of PowerPoint you have, you can check it by clicking File > Account > About PowerPoint.

Extract the files

Once you have downloaded the right version of LiveWeb, you will get a zip file Once you have downloaded the right version of LiveWeb, you will get a zip file that contains two files: LiveWeb.ppa and Readme.txt. You need to extract these files to a folder on your computer. You can use any software that can unzip files, such as WinZip, WinRAR, or 7-Zip. Alternatively, you can use the built-in Windows feature to extract files by right-clicking on the zip file and choosing Extract All.

Enable macros

Before you can use LiveWeb, you need to enable macros in PowerPoint. Macros are small programs that automate tasks or add new features to an application. LiveWeb is a macro that adds the feature of inserting web pages to PowerPoint. However, macros can also be harmful if they come from untrusted sources. Therefore, PowerPoint disables macros by default for security reasons. You need to enable macros for LiveWeb to work.

To enable macros in PowerPoint, follow these steps:

  • Open PowerPoint and click File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Macro Settings.

  • Select the option Enable all macros (not recommended; potentially dangerous code can run).

  • Click OK twice to save the changes and close the dialog boxes.

Note: Enabling all macros can pose a security risk if you open files from unknown or untrusted sources. You should only enable macros for files that you trust, such as LiveWeb. Alternatively, you can enable macros for specific files by using the File Block Settings or the Trusted Locations options in the Trust Center.

How to Insert a Live Web Page in PowerPoint

Now that you have downloaded and enabled LiveWeb, you are ready to insert a live web page in your PowerPoint presentation. Here are the steps to follow:

Open the LiveWeb wizard

To insert a live web page in PowerPoint, you need to use the LiveWeb wizard. The LiveWeb wizard is a tool that guides you through the process of inserting and configuring a web page on your slide. To open the LiveWeb wizard, follow these steps:
